JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for managing the cultivation and harvesting of aquatic organisms such as fishes,
shellfish, and plants/farming in various aquatic environments/Eco Resort. This role involves
managing aquaculture facilities, ensuring the health and growth of aquatic species, and
implementing sustainable practices to optimize production and environmental impact.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Aquaculture Operations:
i. Managing the daily operations of aquaculture facilities, including ponds, tanks, and
hatcheries.
ii. Monitor and manage water quality parameters, such as temperature, pH, oxygen
levels, and salinity.
iii. Implement feeding regimes and schedules to ensure optimal growth and health of
aquatic species.
- Health Management:
i. Conduct regular health assessments of aquatic organisms to identify and
address/prevent/control any diseases or issues.
ii. Develop and implement biosecurity measures to prevent the introduction and
spread of pathogens.
iii. Administer medications and treatments as needed to maintain the health of the
stock.
- Breeding and Production:
i. Manage breeding programs to ensure a consistent supply of fry, fingerlings, or
juveniles for grow-out.
ii. Oversee the spawning, hatching, and rearing processes of various aquatic
species.
iii. Optimize growth conditions to achieve production targets and improve yield.
- Sustainability and Environmental Management:
i. Implement sustainable aquaculture practices to minimize environmental impact.
ii. Monitor and manage waste disposal and effluent treatment processes.
iii. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry standards.
- Data Collection and Analysis:
i. Maintain detailed records of production metrics, health assessments, and
environmental conditions.
ii. Analyze data to identify trends, improve practices, and optimize production
efficiency.
iii. Prepare reports and present findings to management and stakeholders.
- Facility and Equipment Maintenance:
i. Ensure that all aquaculture equipment and infrastructure are maintained and
functioning properly.
ii. Coordinate repairs and upgrades as needed to support operational efficiency.
iii. Implement safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
- Research and Development:
i. Stay updated with the latest advancements in aquaculture technology and
practices.
ii. Conduct or participate in research projects to improve aquaculture techniques and
outcomes.
iii. Collaborate with academic institutions, industry partners, and other stakeholders.
- Any other assignments assign by Management from time to time.
Qualification and Education:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Fisheries Science, or a
related field. Master’s degree preferred.
Job Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 4-8 years of experience in aquaculture or a related field.
Skills:
o Strong knowledge of aquatic species biology and physiology.
o Proficiency in water quality management and aquaculture systems.
o Experience with breeding, rearing, and health management of aquatic organisms.
o Ability to analyze data and apply findings to improve operations.
o Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
o Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
o Excellent command of both spoken and written English, Bahasa Melayu and
Mandarin (added advantage).
